Why do muscles get sore after excercise

Muscle aches and muscle pain are caused by tiny injuries or micro tears in the muscle fiber and connective tissue during vigorous activity, movement or exercise. This muscle response is completely normal with no cause for concern. Muscle ache is necessary for muscle recovery, repair, and growth because the muscles are restored stronger during this process.

Tiny tears in the muscle are responsible for this damage, leading to inflammatory responses, this is the soreness you feel after a hard workout, however not all muscle soreness is the same. Muscle ache or tenderness that lasts a few days after physical activity or exercise is normal, but prolonged muscle pain can indicate muscle injury.

Delayed onset of muscle soreness peaks 24 to 72 hours after exercise. This is why it is referred to as delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS). The muscle soreness and discomfort is caused by both the damage and the inflammatory processes required to heal the muscle.

Muscles soreness cannot be completely prevented, it's just something we have to deal with during and after exercise or activity. Usually, this occurs when you use your muscles in a manner they're not used to, such as during a new or more intense workout or activity. Gradually intensifying your workouts, exercise, or physical activity can help to reduce muscle soreness.

Despite the initial muscle discomfort or soreness, don't let these aches discourage you from continuing. Taking care of yourself is what you're doing, muscle soreness improves as your body gets used to exercise.

One of the ways to ease muscle pain or soreness and bring relief to sore muscles is the use of natural or organic plant oils. The use of topical arnica has been shown to be effective in various creams, rubs and oils. For years Arnica has been used as a natural remedy to alleviate muscle soreness.

Arnica Montana Oil is commonly utilized in most Freemove Muscle Relief and Muscle Care products due to its natural and organic medicinal properties.

Robert Gibson, founder and director of Freemove Muscle Care, has been using organic plant oils and natural ingredients on his athletes and clients during soft tissue massage therapy for over 30 years. Massage can help heal sore and achy muscles by increasing blood circulation. Boosting blood flow, more oxygen and nutrients can be delivered to the affected areas, which can assist in the repair of damaged muscle fibers, decreasing inflammation, release muscle tightness, improve range of movement and relieving pain.
